Blue Ribbon Coalition Alert
Plumas National Forest to Present Proposed Action for Route Designation
The Plumas National Forest will be conducting three open houses regarding their Proposed Action (PA) for wheeled motorized vehicle travel, also known as Route Designation or Access and Travel Management. The purpose of the open houses will be to help people understand what is in the Proposed Action and how to provide comments on the proposal.
The Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for the Proposed Action was published in the Federal Register on January 3, 2008, beginning an official 60-day public comment period. Scoping comments on the Proposed Action are due by March 3, 2008.
Your comments will contribute to a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), expected in September 2008. A second opportunity to comment will follow release of the DEIS, with the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and decision expected for release in December 2008. Once the decision is made, maps will be developed and routes will be signed.
All open houses will run from 3:00 to 6:00 pm (See schedule below for dates and places). Team members will be available to familiarize people with the route designation and environmental analysis processes and will provide assistance if you want to provide feedback during the open house.
