a Victory
« on: October 07, 2008, 12:29:58 pm »
In February a bill  Assembly Bill No. 2537 CHAPTER 678b    which if had not happened, been approved and just signed by the Governor,  would have eliminated all volunteer projects, and brought things like the work day / cleanup we have, fall under minimum wage laws and essentially make them impractical, or out of budget, and not do-able.

I'm please to see the Govenator just signed it into law precluding that until at least 2012

One might only speculate which group(s) don't volunteer to clear trails, so want to close down OUR trail cleanup projects.

Here's what Arnie wrote back when I supported the exclusion of volunteers:

Thank you for writing to express your support for AB 2537.  I appreciate hearing from fellow Californians about the issues that matter to them, and I welcome your input on legislation that affects the future of our great state.

After extensive consideration and thorough deliberation of arguments from both supporters and opponents of this issue, I am pleased to inform you that I signed this legislation.  I value the services volunteers provide throughout California, and I am committed to strengthening our state's volunteer force.  You may read the final language of this bill on the Official California Legislative Information website at www.leginfo.ca.gov.

Again, thank you for voicing your opinion on this important issue.  I value the comments of individuals like you who are committed to improving  the future of California.

Sincerely,

Arnold Schwarzenegger
