Paving from Inskip coming......
« on: August 06, 2009, 06:53:10 pm »
Butte County Association of Governments is awarding the first phase of this project and construction will begin shortly.  Since you all have been asking me over the years, I thought I would pass this BCAG newsletter along that contains the announcement.  Phase 1 is from the end of the pavement at Inskip up to the Humbug Summit Road intersection.  The bids came in so low, we are hopeful that there will be enough money to widen the small Butte Meadows section from the Skyway / Humboldt Road intersection south to the bridge also.

hmmmm, not sure if it's good or bad.  How will construction affect access, during construction?  Guess we still have pipejam!

Lassen N.F. is worried that any amount of paving will increase the traffic to the High Lakes, and therefore bring into the thinking process things like limits, and permits.

Both to me are far bigger issues than a potential 10 - 15 minute wait for a pilot car around construction.

One of the potential answers is gatekeepers, to keep the stoker rigs under control?  Not everyone will like that option, either.

If there is any good news about this, and it is the basis for "selling the plan" is that for Ridge residents it provides a fire escape route.  But I know of at least 5 other ways off the Ridge anyway.  So you can guess, I'm NOT looking forward to any paving.
