Is NOT happening until mid-July.......   

I went up on 6/18 and found 6 feet of standing snow at the "T". Drifts deeper in spots. After "Dice" rock it is solid snow. Spring Valley Lake is mostly frozen over.

We do not have a solid date for the cleanup due to the unpredictability of the melt this year.

NOTE: There is plenty of snow pack for experienced/well equipped vehicles to be in the area as of this week, HOWEVER in the next few week I would discourage travel to the area as the snow melts.

6/26 UPDATE: Still a boat load of snow........ Lotts/Spring Valley/Morris stil mostly frozen over.....

I'd say 2-4 feet of standing snow and 6-8 feet in shady areas.

But the good news is it is melting it is melting FAST!

Streams become rivers in the afternoon. We'll wait at least another week to schedule the cleanup.

OK, we are going to make it official. Due to the amount of LARGE drifts still in the area, and alot of mud and water, we are postponing the opening until July 24th.

Ben Lomond will not be opened for another week or two after that.

The south side is off limits currently due to the run off and tree blow down. We will be scheduling a work party for that area as soon as conditions allow.

It is going to be another short season due to snow this year, but at least it is  better than fires!

Again if you go to the area please treat it as it is, Spring run off, TREAD LIGHTLY!

The 24th is almost here!!     We will have a very brief briefing at Spring Valley Lake

For the HAM users we'll be using 146.4450 simplex.

do we need to bring tools,chainsaws pry bars  shovels ect? what time are we meeting? just asking

Mike, bring what you can, the spring opening consists of clearing downed trees, picking up trash, and digging out fire pits.

We will be meeting at 9:00 AM at Spring Valley for a short briefing and assigning anyone who isn't in a club to a trail that could use some help.

so whats the legal way for a green sticker to get up to spring valley?    will the south end be opened,no gates closed?

Yes quads are welcome.  We will be meeting at Spring Valley at 9:00 AM, I would advise coming in from the north. Technically green stickers are not aloud on 25N05 leading to the "T". However, LEOs have just been checking for current green stickers and allowing people to ride. Many people park at Butte Meadows or Inn Skip.
