Green sticker enforcement to begin?
« on: June 23, 2010, 05:13:19 am »
Seems some of our group were talking with the LEO last weekend and he intends to begin enforcing the road classification going  to the high lakes... no green stickers.  Any of you heard more about this?  I figured it would be coming, at least as far as they are paving the road to this year, but had hoped I could park at philbrook and drive up from there.  Guess I'll be plating the buggy  ::)  Is the Pierce property within three miles of the OHV area?

Yes, the Pearce Property is within 3 miles.  In fact it is 1.8 miles to the Lott's T.  You and a few others have taken advantage of a little more safety there as well. And Wilson, you are more than welcome to park your tow rig there.  Any others who want to avoid plating their rigs and want to remain within the law for green sticker use, feel free to contact me and we can talk about it.
In the mountains of truth you will never climb in vain: either you will get further up today or you will exercise your strength so that you can climb higher tomorrow.

Ken, can you confirm the legality of green stickers traveling on S line / T line / R line?

I can imagine these routes won't be a focal point for enforcement but I am curious.

Well Concow Rd. is a county road all the way to Philbrook and you are suppose to be street legal even if it is a dirt road, never see anyone enforce it,I sure there are more ohv's than plated vehicles on the road

There hasn't been enforcement on any of the roads.... to date.  Only time will tell I guess, but I intend to play it safe.

The issue is that a green sticker can only LEGALLY drive UP TO three miles on a ML3-5 road and ONLY if it terminates in a legal OHV riding area.

I believe that Peirces to T fits that, but that Philbrook to Pierce's doesn't (either in distance  and  not being a legal OHV riding area.)

Because it is County from Paradise / Magalia to Philbrook (including Inskip) that doesn't qualify either.

So in reality, the only legal place to tow is the Lotts Lake  "T", or within 3 miles of it, and ONLY if that is a legal riding area.

Enforcement or not will be the issue.

There are longer range plans to work on a LEGAL way to green sticker all of the way in,  but they got postponed due to other issues.  - Back butrner, not forgotten.
